Paving

  • What is the process for new asphalt paving?

    • Site preparation: Remove old pavement and debris
    • Sub-base preparation: Grade and compact for drainage
    • Asphalt installation: Lay and compact new asphalt in layers
    • Finishing: Smooth and roll for a durable surface
  • Can you pave over existing concrete or asphalt?

Yes, in many cases. A thorough evaluation is required to ensure the existing surface is suitable for an overlay.

  • How long does a paving project take?

Small residential driveways can often be completed in a day or two. Larger commercial projects may take several days to weeks, depending on size and complexity.

  • When is the best time of year for paving?

Spring and summer are ideal, as dry, mild weather helps asphalt cure properly.

  • How soon can I use my new asphalt surface?

Avoid heavy traffic for several days after paving. Your contractor will advise when it’s safe to use the surface.

Sealcoating

  • What is sealcoating and why is it important?

Sealcoating is the application of a protective layer over asphalt to guard against water, oil, and UV damage. It extends pavement life and improves appearance.

  • How soon can I sealcoat new asphalt?

Wait 4–6 weeks after new asphalt is installed, or until the surface has oxidized and is free of oily residue. A simple water test can confirm readiness.

  • Why does sealcoating sometimes peel or fail?

Peeling is usually caused by poor surface preparation, such as oil spots or dirt. Proper cleaning and priming are essential for good adhesion.

Grading

  • What is grading and why is it necessary?

Grading ensures a level, stable base for paving and proper drainage, preventing water damage and surface failure.

  • Do you handle grading for both new and existing surfaces?

Yes. We provide grading for new construction and can regrade existing surfaces to correct drainage or stability issues.
